The idea is that it is someone a critic, usually movie, called someone that dislikes movies they consider good.
The idea is clearly designed for critics, who can't take criticism or listen for half a second, because they have an idea of what objectively is the best movie. Basically, bad critics can't defend their ideas.
A contrarian is the same person who can see through the matrix... Found those people who think the godfather is garbage.
