The Light Flickers

When the Light flickered, everything went dark. I could not see, and thus I has no idea what I was doing. I stumbled through the vague darkness, grabbing for some thing to hold me in a standing position. The darkness gave me vertigo, made it hard to stand.
My hand wrapped around a cool handle and I pushed my way through the thick shadows, pushing handle fist, so I'd stand up straight. The dark matter spread through the dark energy was not easy to overcome, bit I pressed on until the handle touched the metal door. I pushed open the door into the bright, light and was free of the darkness once and for all.
In my hand was the handle of a knife covered in red paint. I placed it on the ground and continued on my way.
